Well the notoriously anti-American "church", Westboro Baptist Church, is at it again. This is the "church" that protests at the funerals of our fallen heroes and says that it is God's punishment for America's tolerance of homosexuality. Now I don't know about you, but the two have nothing to do with each other in my mind. These people are a buch of crazies in my opinion.
Well this time they have strayed from their protesting of funerals of fallen soldiers in combat and are now protesting a soldier who was murdered in the United States. Army Specialist Megan L. Touma was the pregnant soldier at Fort Bragg who was murdered in her hotel room and left for dead in the bathtub. Westboro has decided to protest at her funeral now as well.
This deviates from their already obsurd protest ritual and now they are protesting her funeral in the same way they do our fallen heroes.. Megan Touma was murdered. If anything these people should be helping to determine who her murderer is and not destroying the lives of the family members in mourning.
Our government really needs to step in here and take some action. This church is promoting a political agenda and therefor needs to have its tax exempt status revoked. It is ubsurd that these people are even given the opportunity to protest at the funerals. I understand that they have some sort of beef with homosexuality, but that has nothing to do with our soldiers being killed in war. I know that in the past our government has imposed rules governing how close to the family these people can get, but we need to do more. These people are violent in their protests and are known to have taken the small American flags out of the front yards in the neighborhood and then placing them in a family member's car and lighting it on fire. These people should be arrested for the things that they do.
I urge all of you to write to your legislators and ask for more tougher sactions against this church and make our government do more to protect our hero's families.
