Today Barack Obama said that, "This war distracts us from every threat that we face and so many opportunities we could seize" in reference to the Iraq war. This is just propsterous to me. There are many soldiers that have given their lives in Iraq for the cause of freedom and he is going to say that the war is nothing more than a distraction. I have had friends die over there and I have seen the lifeless bodies of my dead comrades and he wants to say that the war is just a distraction from what we should be doing. That really pisses me off. I would love for Barack Obama to go and visit the widow(er) and let them know that their loved one died because of a distraction. I want him to look in the faces of the children who have lost a parent and tell them that it was only for a distraction. I want him to tell these people that their loved one was nothing more than a distraction.
My husband was injured when an insurgent placed a roadside bomb on the side of the road and blew up the vehicle that he was riding it. It killed his driver, SGT Julia Atkins, and also injured his team leader. So Barack Obama, you are saying that my husband's permanent injuries are nothing more than a distraction. The fact that he will never be able to run after our daughter is just a distraction to you? His constant pain and injury is just a distraction to you? It means nothing to you that my husband will not be able to walk without assistance for the rest of his life? It means nothing to you that our soldiers are dying overseas for a cause that they believe in? So basically this is all just a distraction to you huh?
Barack Obama, if you think that all of these things are just a distraction than maybe you need to stop running for President. Why don't you think before you let words come out of your mouth and realize that the words that you say have an impact on those of us who are suffering with the residual affects of this war and realize that to us this is not a distraction, it is our life.
