Washington Legislative District 44 race

I am a little peeved at some information that I learned today. According to my sources, Liz Loomis (D) incumbent in the 44th Legislative district was overheard speaking and telling people the following:

  • She doesn't know why she is running anymore
  • She doesn't want to do this anymore
  • All she wants to do is sit on the beach and finish writing her book.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the incumbent who is running for re-election. She is currently representing our district and she says that she doesn't even know why she is doing this anymore. Of course, she said this when she thought that nobody was listening (just like Obama in San Francisco with the guns and religion comment), but there were people listening. If her comments are true, I wish that she would have the courage to withdraw from the race. I don't want one single voter to cast a vote for someone who doesn't even want to to the job.

During the latest debate, she was leaning on the podium with her head in her hand and holding the microphone with the other hand. It looked like she was asleep. I know that it was a morning debate, but she could have at least stood up. It was almost disrespectful the way that she presented herself. Another flub in the most recent debate came when she was asked about her legislative history. She said that, "Just because I was a co-sponsor of a bill, that doesn't mean that I voted for it." Trust me ladies and gentlemen, I don't make this stuff up. She is putting her name on legislation to make herself look good, BUT SHE ISN'T EVEN VOTING FOR HER OWN LEGISLATION. I am serious. She said it, not me. I don't even have words for how horrible that is. She is writing legislation, but it is so horrible that she won't even vote for it. How backwards is that?

Oh and now for the biggest whopper of them all, Liz Loomis is an active lobbyist. Yes everyone, she is a current state legislator and she is also a lobbyist. Now she will tell you that she has given up her lobbying career since taking office, but her most recent filings show that she had no changes in her income statements from the last one which showed that she was still an active lobbyist. All together now.... CONFLICT OF INTEREST. The vast majority of her campaign contributions are coming from PACs or special interest groups.

It is blatantly obvious that the people in the 44th legislative district need to vote for Mike Hope. This is a man who is a veteran, current policeman, small business owner, and a coach for our local high school teams. He lives and breathes the 44th district. He knows this district and has a clear vision of where this state needs to go. Mike Hope is out every day knocking on doors and trying to get support. Mike's contributions and support are coming from the people of the district. He is definatly not going to be "bought" by special interests or lobbyists. He is out to represent the people and he deserves your vote. So if you live in the 44th, check out his website and give him your vote.  www.mikehope2008.com
